Year 6 Pupils Take on Big Adventures at Pioneers

Last week, our Year 6 pupils swapped the classroom for the great outdoors as they headed off on their residential trip to the Pioneers Centre in Shropshire. Joined by friends from Riverside Primary School, the children spent five days taking part in exciting activities that tested their courage and built their confidence.

From scaling climbing walls to flying down zip wires, the group threw themselves into every challenge. They tackled high ropes, tried their hand at archery and even built shelters in the woods. Each activity gave them a chance to work together, support one another and discover what they were capable of.

One of the highlights was getting up close with a range of exotic animals. Pupils had the chance to handle spiders, scorpions and a giant snake so long it took ten of them to hold it. It was a thrilling experience that sparked plenty of wide eyes and nervous giggles.

They also had a blast playing laser tag in the forest, darting between trees and working in teams to outsmart their opponents. It was fast-paced, fun and full of laughter.

Evenings were just as lively. Pupils gathered around campfires to sing songs, danced at the disco and relaxed during film nights. These moments helped them bond and unwind after busy days outdoors.

Throughout the week, many overcame fears and pushed themselves further than they thought possible. It was more than just fun – it was a chance to grow, learn and prepare for the journey ahead as they get ready for secondary school.

We’re incredibly proud of how our pupils represented Hallam Fields. Their behaviour was brilliant and they showed kindness, bravery and teamwork every step of the way.
