Pupils Shine in National BookTrust Competition
Two of our talented Key Stage 2 pupil have been recognised in the prestigious Book That Represents Me competition, run by BookTrust, the UK’s largest children’s reading charity.Year 5 pupil Aarav secured second place for his insightful review of The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q. Raúf, while Akira in Year 6 earned a Highly Commended Prize for her thoughtful review of Aya and the Star Chaser by Radiya Hafiza.
Both pupils have won a book of their choice to keep, and Aarav’s success has also earned the school an inclusive book bundle - designed to reflect the diverse experiences and backgrounds of children across the UK.
The competition, part of BookTrust’s mission to inspire a love of reading in all children, invited pupils to review a book that they felt represented them or helped them understand someone else’s perspective. The initiative celebrates empathy, identity, and inclusion through literature.
We are incredibly proud of Aarav and Akira’s achievements, which highlight the power of reading to connect, inspire, and empower young minds.
