Mental Health Awareness Day at Hallam Fields
At Hallam Fields Primary School, we recently took part in a range of activities to support Mental Health Awareness Day and help our pupils think about wellbeing, kindness and happiness. In Year 3, pupils worked together to create a random acts of kindness display. Each child added ideas about how they could support themselves, their friends and their families. The poster included simple but thoughtful actions that can make a positive difference to everyday life.
Year 4 pupils created their own display focused on what makes them happy. Each child designed a colourful speech bubble and shared something important to them. These included things such as friends, pets, hobbies, arts and crafts, family and, for many, food. The display helped pupils reflect on what supports their own wellbeing.
Across the school, pupils also explored mindfulness through Cosmic Yoga sessions. Children followed along with the activities on screen, learning different poses and taking time to focus on breathing and relaxation.
The day provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to pause, reflect and talk about their wellbeing. Through simple activities and shared experiences, we were able to highlight the importance of looking after ourselves and supporting others.
