Flying the Green Flag

We’re delighted to share that Hallam Fields Primary School has been awarded the Eco-Schools Green Flag, recognising a brilliant year of environmental action led by our Eco Club.

Throughout the year, our pupils have been busy making a real difference. From planting trees and topping up bird feeders to building bug hotels, they’ve helped boost biodiversity across our school grounds.

We’ve also been working hard to save energy, with our ambassadors using the Penguin of Power to encourage good habits and tracking our electricity use with Energy Sparks.

Reducing waste has been another big focus. Our uniform swap shop and jumble sale gave clothes a second life and supported families, while switching to refillable glue sticks helped cut down on plastic.

One of our favourite projects was Year 5’s “Should we flush it away?” experiment, which turned everyday questions into eye-opening science about fatbergs and water pollution.

Thanks to new funding, we’re now developing a pond that will become a peaceful space for learning and wildlife.

We’re incredibly proud of our pupils for their creativity, teamwork and commitment to making our school more sustainable.

A huge congratulations to our pupils, our staff and our parent/carer community for their ecological efforts over the last academic year and beyond!
